The food we eat is a choice WE make everyday. Nothing else controls that. Not society, not the government, not the restaurant, not the bbq at your friends house…..nope…..only you. What goes into the grocery cart goes into the body. Sometimes we choose healthy good food for the body, sometimes we choose bad food knowing full well it is bad for your body. Some struggle with these decisions everyday, some don’t, and some don’t care. Either way, it is your choice. I decided a few years ago that I needed a change and began to add more positives and less negatives into my body. I did this for three reasons really:
1) Myself.
2) My daughters.
I feel a HUGE sense of responsibility to ensure they learn why and how to eat healthy early in their life. Plus I kind of like them and want to be on this earth with them as long as I can.
3) I hate hospitals.
Thankful they exist and are manned by really talented people but I will do whatever I can to avoid wasting days of my life and my families life in a hospital bed, wearing stupid hospital gowns and socks, and looking out the window (if your lucky to have one) wishing I could be out there.
So………
I choose organic, I choose more vegetables and fruits, I cook my own meals, there is no microwave in my house, I don’t eat meat, I drink lots more water, no dairy allowed, and do my best to ensure my body absorb the best things earth can give it.
Was it easy to make this lifestyle change? Absolutely Not. Humans are a creative bunch and make amazing foods that are wonderful experiences to eat. I had to give up things I loved and that is tough to do, especially when you are constantly tempted. But what I discovered is that I began to crave how good my body felt, the dissipation of muscle and joint pains, how much energy I had, the results I was seeing in the gym, and the fact that I was not getting sick.
This is why I gave our grocery cart a new look. My body, mind, and soul are happier, more capable, and the food I eat is still delicious!!
