With the holidays fast approaching, many of us may find ourselves feeling more stressed than usual. Between shopping for gifts, planning family gatherings, and managing end-of-year workloads, it’s no wonder the holiday season can feel overwhelming. Here are some simple tips to help you stay calm and centered during this busy time.

Start Your Day Right with a Balanced Breakfast

One of the easiest ways to maintain your stress levels is to ensure you’re fueling your body properly. This begins with a balanced breakfast. Consider meals that are rich in protein, fats, and carbohydrates. These nutrients not only provide you with the energy you need to tackle the day, but they also help you stay full longer, reducing the likelihood of reaching for unhealthy snacks out of hunger later in the day.

Here are some of my favorites:

  2. Caramelized Banana Oatmeal
  3. Easy Veggie Breakfast Hash

Incorporate Movement into Your Daily Routine

Exercise is a proven stress reducer. Even if you can only spare 10 minutes a day, every bit counts. The key is to find an activity that you love. This could be anything from a brisk walk around the neighborhood to a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) session or even dancing. The goal isn’t to exhaust yourself but to engage in movement that rejuvenates and energizes you.

Prioritize Sleep

As tempting as it may be to stay up late wrapping presents, binging the latest episode of ‘Suits’, or reading just one more chapter, depriving yourself of sleep often does more harm than good. Aim for 8 hours of sleep per night if possible. Good quality sleep is essential for reducing stress, boosting your immune system, and maintaining your overall health.

Find Time to Laugh

Never underestimate the power of laughter. It’s one of the simplest ways to reduce stress and boost your mood. Whether watching your favorite comedy, playing around with silly Instagram filters, or even watching puppy and cat videos online, find what makes you laugh and incorporate it into your day. As the saying goes, laughter is the best medicine!

Remember, the holidays are a time for happiness and connection. Don’t let stress get in the way of enjoying this special time of year. Take care of yourself, and remember, you’ve got this!
